10 Day Health Challenge

I’ve taken myself off to Port Douglas which is about a 40 min drive from Cairns on the West coast of Australia.

Port Douglas is a beautiful and relaxing place. It is also located next to the sea and the 4 mile beach. It’s so nice to be in the sunshine again and to feel the heat! I’ve had enough of the cold and the rain in the UK and Melbourne!

My plan while I’m here is to relax, do yoga and to eat really good, healthy, nutritious food. In essence I’ll be cutting out all the crap – see my blog post on Cut the CRAP.

I’m going to be following a “Carbohydrate Control Program” which is designed to re-establish my carbohydrate (sugar) metabolism, to help restore the balance between the liver and pancreas. It is basically a high protein, low carbohydrate diet. I generally do follow this and avoid, pasta, bread and potatoes, but over the past few weeks I’ve been eating a lot of rich food and drinking a lot of wine. It’s time to give my body a rest and allow it to recharge.

I’m staying in a lovely place in the centre of town and close to the beach, but what’s brilliant is its location to the Deep Yoga Studio which is about a thirty second walk! I popped in to speak to the manager and he was super friendly and nice and talked me through all the different classes available. To be honest they all sound great, so I’m going to try them all while I’m here!

Cool Hatha Yoga

Normally I’m a big fan of Bikram Yoga and this is the yoga I would choose to do, but it’s good to mix it up and to try a new challenge and you know how I love challenges!
