What is the hardest part of training?

For me it’s getting myself out of the house and doing the training when I’m not in the mood. If I’m tried, or just feeling lazy it can be really hard to motivate myself to get up and go when I just feel like chilling on the couch and watching a good movie!!

On those days, I have to do it in stages. I get up, and put my running gear on straight away I don’t even stop to think about it. I just put my gear on and then at least I’m one step closer to making it out of the house!

Those are the times you have to be mentally strong and you have to get out and do the training in your training plan.

Yes it would be easy to say - I’ll skip it just this once and it won’t matter and in the grand scheme of things it wouldn’t but what you’ve then started is a negative habit and if you do it once, you can do it again, so instead of running four times a week, it drops to three times a week, then two, then once a week until running is no longer a habit. No longer part of your schedule.

So the hardest part of training for me is getting out of the door when I’m not in the mood! But I know it will be worth it and I’ll feel so much better for doing it.
