#7 Walking across a Roman Aqueduct on the Lycian Way!!!

November 15, 2019

15th November - Çavdır to wildcamp near Delikkemer 21.1km

🇹🇷Friday 15th November - Day 6 - Lycian Trail 🇹🇷 From Çavdır to Üzümlü to Akbel then a wild camping spot!

🏕 🚗After a fabulous breakfast we were driven back down the windy rocky roads and dropped off at the little town where we were collected from - Çavdır.

🥾It was straight back onto the trail. But this time the sun was shinning! It makes such a big difference!!!

💦 Highlights for me today was coming across the Roman bridge / aqueduct which we got to walk across. You turn a corner and it’s just there!!! I got very over excited!! Can’t wait for you to see the vlogs!! We’d also been walking alongside the aqueduct for quite a way and some parts of the aqueduct system are still actually in use, which was really cool to see.

🌱 It was quite overgrown in places and with the narrow path ways, means we were getting up close and personal to a lot of the prickly bushes! Really pleased with the progress made today and this was our first day getting over 20k which feels like something to celebrate! I also feel as though we are starting to make progress on the walk as well 😀

☀️⛺️At the sun was starting to set it was all about finding somewhere to camp! Which when you are walking on a very narrow path with lots of bushes either side, was proving very challenging. We didn’t think it would be possible to find some flat ground for our tents. It was now a race against the sun setting and it going dark...

⛺️We located an ok - ish location for our tents and just about had enough space to make it work for the both of us. Dinner was bread, soft cheese and crisp, washed down with water and Haribo for dessert 😋

Thank you so much for following our journey!!! You can follow the journey by using the @komoot app. It’s super simple to download and use! 🎥 I am filming footage every day and there will be Lycian Way vlogs coming out when I’m back in December.

We used the Komoot App while hiking.

We uploaded the GPX tracks to Komoot and used this to help with navigation. The Komoot app also tracks us, and provides a lot of information such as distance covered, elevation gain and loss, there is also voice directions which you can turn on. Mine was called Bob…. (don’t know why!)

*The Komoot App was gifted and we also received sponsorship for this hike.

All of the tracks from the 23 day hike have been recorded on Komoot.
