The Patara ruins were out of this world! We pretty much had the whole place to ourselves and were free to wander and explore at our leisure. My favourite was the Amphitheatre, the sense of history you get from these places! Walking down the Main Street and seeing the columns! Just stunning!

We spent about 2 hrs wandering around and exploring, the ruins are spread out over quite a wide area. Highly recommend going! It was then on to the little village Gelemiş, where we got a quick pomegranate juice, topped up our water and snacks and headed back out in to the trail. Our hope was to make it back to the junction so that we would complete the loop. We’d also spotted the perfect camping site (now marked on the @komoot App for other hikers to use as well).

⛰It was a tough section. 3 big hills, steep elevation and lots of sunshine with no shade!

💦Plus we were carrying at extra 1.5 litres on top of the 1.5 litres we normally carry. Water is so heavy!! The final few kilometres were done on the road, which helped us to pick up the pace and knock out the final section pretty quickly.

💪We finished the loop and made it to the camp spot by 4.30pm. We both felt a massive sense of achievement for getting it done.

🌊 Our reward was stunning views over the Mediterranean Sea, which looked so inviting!! 🍴 Dinner was bread, cream cheese and crisps, with Nutella for desert!

We used the Komoot App while hiking.

We uploaded the GPX tracks to Komoot and used this to help with navigation. The Komoot app also tracks us, and provides a lot of information such as distance covered, elevation gain and loss, there is also voice directions which you can turn on. Mine was called Bob…. (don’t know why!)

*The Komoot App was gifted and we also received sponsorship for this hike.

All of the tracks from the 23 day hike have been recorded on Komoot. Follow me @ToughGirl and follow Kat @FollowTheArrows
