After waking up to the stunning views across to Kalkan, it was time to start the next coastal section of the Lycian Way!

📖 From the guide book this route has been marked as quite difficult and challenging especially is you are wearing a big pack. We decided to give it ago anyway.

⛰ There was lots of scrambling and having to use hands & poles, you did need to have a good head for heights, because there were some sketchy bits. I honestly can’t believe the trail went that way! It took about 1 hour to do 1 mile. It was awesome fun and did get the adrenaline pumping! After crossing multiple scree falls and boulder fields we made it around the coast to Kalkan which is where we did our resupply - getting snacks and water, having brunch and charging electronics!

⏰ We left around 2.30 pm and had a big climb to content with, over 800m/2,625 ft with lots of switchbacks. The trail was just rocks. 👟 It’s destroying my shoes and I’m not sure how much longer they will last going through this terrain....

⛺️ We made it to Bezirgan, quite late around 5.45 which didn’t give us a huge amount of time to find camping. We were going to ask someone if we could camp in their garden, however we couldn’t find any people!

🕌 We walked through the town to the mosque knowing that they would have water and toilets which we’d be able to use. There was no one there to speak with, so we managed to find some stealth camping close by in a field, behind a house, which was also hidden from the road! In bed by 7pm!

Ready for an early start tomorrow 😀.

We used the Komoot App while hiking.

We uploaded the GPX tracks to Komoot and used this to help with navigation. The Komoot app also tracks us, and provides a lot of information such as distance covered, elevation gain and loss, there is also voice directions which you can turn on. Mine was called Bob…. (don’t know why!)

*The Komoot App was gifted and we also received sponsorship for this hike.
