⏰ This was quite a frustrating day! We had planned to leave at 7.30am we were wanting to get some good miles done. It wasn’t meant to be... the thunder and lightening from 4am till 8.30 ish soon put a stop to those plans!!!

🌑It was pitch back and it was the hardcore rain, much better to try and wait it out. We were lucky to have camped on a platform so at least our tents were dry.

🍅 It was a very flat walk today, along the roads and pasts the massive green houses that covered huge areas of land, they grow tomatoes & cucumbers!

🌧 The biggest issue was the rain!! None stop, driving rain, which is coming from all angles! My poncho isn’t quite long enough to cover my pack fully - which is a tad annoying! Everything is in dry sacks, so nothing should get wet! I do have a few pieces of duck tape being used to patch up some of the holes. But it will be fine. We made good time to the town of Çavdır, about 18km but we had decisions to make the next sections is apparently overgrown and there are some tricky bits to navigate- doing it in the rainy wet weather just wasn’t going to happen. But this also seemed to be a bit of an accommodation black hole! There were no real options.

🏕 In the end we called up a campground and they came and collected us, they had a room, hot shower, would wash our clothes, feed us dinner and breakfast and take us back in the morning. At this point, because we had stopped walking it was the best option. We were getting cold and needed to get dry and warm as quickly as possible!

We used the Komoot App while hiking.

We uploaded the GPX tracks to Komoot and used this to help with navigation. The Komoot app also tracks us, and provides a lot of information such as distance covered, elevation gain and loss, there is also voice directions which you can turn on. Mine was called Bob…. (don’t know why!)

*The Komoot App was gifted and we also received sponsorship for this hike.
