Future Tough Girl Challenges?!

December 11, 2014

I really like pushing myself both physically and mentally and I’ve got a list of challenges I’d like to complete in the future. They’re in no particular order, for some reason or other they’ve sparked my interest!

  • 3 Peaks Challenge in 24 hours – Climb the highest mountains in Scotland, England and Wales. I was actually signed up to do this in October, but unfortunately not enough people signed up to do it, so it got cancelled. Fingers crossed I’ll be able to cross this off the list in 2015.

  • Climb Mount Albrus – The highest mountain in Russia and part of the 7 summits. After climbing Mt Kilimanjaro this is the next mountain most people look to.

  • Climb Mount Kosciuszko in Australia – This is not a particularly high mountain to climb. But it would be another one ticked off the 7 summits list. When I next go back to Australia I’ll definitely be doing this. It’s about a six hour drive from Melbourne...

  • Hike to the “Lost City” (Ciudad Perdida) in Columbia - Every since I’ve read about this trek, I’ve wanted to do it. It looks amazing, a six day hike through the jungle until you reach the lost city. This would be mind blowing. I’m really gutted when I was in South America in 2013 I didn’t have the time to do this.

  • Hike the full length of the Appalachian Trail (A.T.) - The A.T. is located on the west coast of America, it’s one of the longest continually marked footpaths in the world. Roughly 2,180 miles long crossing through 14 states. Most thru-hikers walk north, starting in Georgia in spring and finishing in Maine in fall, taking an average of 6 months. The total elevation gain of hiking the entire A.T. is equivalent to climbing Mt. Everest 16 times!

  • Hike the South Downs Way – The South Downs Way is a long distance footpath in Southern England. It’s approximately 100 miles and runs from Winchester in Hampshire to Eastbourne in Sussex. This would be amazing to do during the summer months in the UK.

  • Cycling from London to Paris – This would be a stunning cycle ride. Either doing it in 24 hours or taking more time and doing a 2, 3 or 4 day cycle route.

  • Cycling from Land’s End to John o’ Groats – Cycling the whole length of Great Britain! The traditional distance by road is 874 miles and takes most cyclists about ten to fourteen days. Walking it would take about two or three months. Either would be a great challenge!

  • The Bosphorus Cross Continental Swim – a 6km current assisted swim from Asia to Europe. The cost of this is actually very reasonable 100 Turkish Lira or US$65, per person. However, there are a maximum number of 200 competitors from each country.  The race is going to be held next year on the 12th July. Registration opens on January 8th....

  • Clipper Round The World Yacht Race - This would be an amazing experience and what a way to travel around the world. The only thing that slightly concerns me would be the cold and wet! Which I’m not a huge fan of. This is also hugely expensive! Maybe I should add a donation button to my site!!

  • Complete a triathlon – Probably one of the easier challenges I want to do and I don’t have to leave the country to do this one!

This is in no way set in stone and it’s very flexible and liable to change. At the moment, my only focus is on the Marathon des Sables, which is getting closer and closer every day.

I’d love to know the challenges that interest and inspire you? Let me know in the comments sections which challenges you’ve signed up for in 2015!
