🥾 Camino Inglés Spain 🇪🇸– Day 0/5 - Long Travel Day…

ℹ️ Daily Stats: Thursday 17th April 2025

Weather: sunny in Madrid, rain in Ferrol

From: London 🇬🇧- Madrid 🇪🇸- Ferrol

Start time: 3.30am London

To: El Ferrol, Spain 🇪🇸

End time: 5.30pm

Accommodation: Hotel

Travel: Bus 🚌 to airport - plane ✈️ to Spain - landed at terminal 1 - need to get terminal bus to terminal 4 to catch the train into Madrid (C1 line) 🚝- got to the train station - no tickets available, all the trains were full. We got the train back to the airport 🚝 to catch a flight to A Coruna. Then a taxi 🚕 to Ferrol (36 mins)

💶 Daily Spend: £4 bus to airport

£55 print boarding pass (I forgot to check in online 🙈)

Flight to Spain £114

Train 🚆 €19 euro (I overpaid on this & bought 9 tickets instead of 1. It should have been €3 one way)

2nd flight ✈️- to A Corona (£246) ahhhhhhh

Food at airport €17

taxi 🚕 €40 euro

Camino Passport €2

Food €6

Subjective Ratings:

  • Enjoyment: 5/10 - a very long day.

  • Fatigue: 5/10 - remind me never to do early morning flights again, plus remind me to check into my flight & book the train tickets in advance!

  • Travel Difficulty: 6/10

⭐️ Highlights of the Day: it was sunny in Madrid at the train station and I got to sit for 10 mins in the sun before catching another train. Getting the pilgrims passport sorted and organising breakfast tomorrow. Finally reaching Ferrol!

⛰️ Challenges Faced: not printing my boarding pass, thinking I wouldn’t be able to get on the flight as I checked in so late. Paying extra for tickets to the city centre. Not booking the trains in advance. Having to pay for another flight…. And a taxi! It was never ending! Plus it’s raining and it looks like it’s going to rain for the next week!

✍️ Reflections / Pilgrim Thoughts: lots of easily available mistakes made…. Lessons have been learned! At least we are here - Ready for the Camino to begin tomorrow!
