#9 Mental maths while walking, taking a detour and feeling frustrated!

26th September - Camino Portugués 🇵🇹

Coimbra to Sernadelo- 25 km

🥾Leaving Coimbra around 9.30 am I got to walk through a lot of the backstreets, which was a super way to start the morning. I was really excited about the day. I was rested and ready to do 25km /15 miles.

It was all going super well until about 8 miles in, when I stopped paying attention at a roundabout and ended up going down the wrong street.

I didn’t realise until about 1.2 miles in - very frustrating as there was no way to get back on to the Camino without back tracking. Which added another 1.2 miles on to the journey.

😤Stuff like this really annoys me. Dead miles and extra time on my feet for nothing. It did put me in a bad mood and I was pissed off!!! I kept trying to change my attitude (everything happens for a reasons etc) but nope I wanted to stay in my angry/pissed off state, for a while at least.

⚠️Due to the detour, I didn’t end up getting to the albergue until 5.20 ish (I should have been there at 3pm) most of the Beds were taken, but I did get a top bunk - not the best! (I hate the top bunks!!) but a bed is a bed!

🛏 The place I’m staying is ok. There are 10 bunk beds, with very little space in between, it’s very crowded, a little dirty and very smelly. Plus soooo many snorers!

Anyway, tomorrow is a new day!!!
