Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 8/10 - great people great chats
Fatigue: 6/10 - really hard to get walking in the morning
Ease of terrain: 6/10 - glad I was taking it easier today.
⭐️Highlights: met Chris @chriswalkstheedge4mcf who is walking the entire coastline of Britian. he kindly treated me to brunch while we chatted all things social media and hiking 🥾
🏔️Challenges: I’ve got a super bad toothache at the moment. I think I need another filling 🦷. I’m going to push on through and sort it when I finish the walk.
💭Thoughts: instead of wild camping. I decided to stay at a campsite. It made life a lot easier and it was right on the trail. There was a pub on the campsite. Where I got food, charged electronics and relaxed for a few hrs. Chatted with Ned & Lee and met 2 German 🇩🇪 hikers on the trail.🥳
Day 27 🥾South West Coast Path 🏴, UK National Trail 🇬🇧 📍Supported by ZOLEO @zoleolifeeurope #ChallengeWithZoleo
ℹ️Stats: Friday 23rd August

£7 cheesy chips
£2.50 ferry ⛴️ to Plymouth at 1pm
£3 Mount Batten ferry ⛴️
£4.25 apple tango and gf carrot cake
Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 6/10 - missing out on company today
Fatigue: 6/10 - felt done in 😴
Ease of terrain: 5/10 - it wasn’t particularly hard. I just found it hard.
⭐️Highlights: there is a very cool stone marking the south-west coast path where I got my photo taken. That was fun. 📸
🏔️Challenges: big storms are coming in and there is a super moon which is making the tides higher. Need to plan the river erme crossing. Plus I got absolutely battered last night in the tent. Tent kept collapsing on me. I couldn’t get the pegs in deep enough. It was a nightmare. I did manage to get a few hours. But definitely not quality sleep.
💭Thoughts: I did cut off a few headlands today and took a ferry instead of doing a 5 mile urban walk on roads. Which just isn’t my thing.
It’s been hard when you’ve had a lot of socialising on the trail and then suddenly you go back to being by yourself again. There’s almost like an adjustment time needed.
Day 28 🥾South West Coast Path 🏴, UK National Trail 🇬🇧 📍Supported by ZOLEO @zoleolifeeurope #ChallengeWithZoleo
ℹ️Stats: Saturday 24th August
Weather: dry ish with rain spells
From: Warren Point - the ferry terminal ⛴️
Start time: 9.45am
To: Bigbury-on-Sea
End time: 9pm
Accommodation: wild camped ⛺️
Terrain: beach, forests, fields, gravel tracks. Lots of the tracks were quite overgrown. It was still easy to walk. But got scratched by brambles, nettles and ferns.
🥾Km: 26.5
🥾Miles: 16.5
🦶Steps: 33,991
💰Costs: £5.79. Water, vimto, & large flapjack.
£16.50 gf pizza (charged me an extra £2.50 for gf base)
£3 mint choc chip ice cream.
Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 6/10
Fatigue: 5/10 - a lot of pointless walking trying to find wild camping
Ease of terrain: 5/10
⭐️Highlights: getting the logistics done. ✅ ferry crossing and river crossing. ✅
🏔️Challenges: Billy the ferry man was disgusting. It was a cash only service (which I didn’t know all the other ferry’s have taken Cards ). I didn’t have cash and asked if could pay via PayPal or do a bank transfer et cetera and he was like it’s not really worth it for that (£4.50) but you can always do a payment in kind. 🤮🤢🤮
I think he saw the look on my face and then said ‘it’s a joke’. I didn’t find it funny at all. He also made other inappropriate comments which I didn’t appreciate. Stuff he wouldn’t say to a man.
💭Thoughts: 🧠my mind is swinging between wanting to go faster. To complete the trail quicker, versus take my time and finish when I finish.
🧠another part of my brain is saying eat less you’re over eating. You don’t need to eat this much food. Another part of my brain is saying eat more you’re burning lots of calories keep eating.
🧠 and another thing is… wild camp and save the money versus stay at a campsite, it’s only £15.

Ease of terrain:5 /10
⭐️Highlights: super pleased with the distance walked today. ✅
🏔️Challenges: my tooth is still playing up. It’s giving me a lot of pain 🦷😫. I’m trying to use my mind to manage the pain and also take some strong painkillers.
💭Thoughts: keep on walking, keep on showing up every day, take it one day at a time don’t over think 🤔 🧠

Subjective feeling out of 10 on:
Enjoyment: 6/10
Fatigue: 6/10
Ease of terrain: 5/10
⭐️Highlights: the ferry driver - dropped me off on the Kingswear side, which saved me getting another ferry.
🍸drinking a can of gin and tonic at the end of the day. I really deserved it & enjoyed it! Plus it will help me sleep - I hope! 🤞
🏔️Challenges: the left side of my face is pretty swollen. I think from my tooth 🦷.
I’m still not sure what to do, whether to go home and get it fixed and then come back out to the trail. Or push on through and get it fixed when I finish in about nine days, I don’t know how long to leave my tooth like this for….
💭Thoughts: it’s just before midnight and I’ve made up my mind. I’m in too much pain. I don’t know how much much longer I can hack this for.
🏡I need to go home and get my tooth fixed.
