What’s next for the Tough Girl Podcast?

My next big goal is to reach 100,000 downloads on the Tough Girl Podcast and for me to share more of these amazing stories. I’m looking to get a sponsor as that would help me to put more episodes out there. At the moment, I produce one episode a week. With episodes coming out every Tuesday at 7 am UK time. #ToughGirlTuesday I’d really love to share more stories and to do, two interviews per week. Once I have a sponsor on board that will happen. Which in turn will help me to r

What has been your biggest take away from the interviews?

I’ve honestly learn’t so much from speaking to all these women. Their drive, their passion, their motivation. I’ve been so privileged to be the one asking the questions and getting to really dig down into their reasons and understand why they do what they do and what they’ve learnt on the way. So many aspects stand out; but for me, time and time again. I hear the same message said in a different way. Its about going after what you want. Its about you making the decision and d

What seems to be the common factor for the women you have on your podcast that drives them to achiev

All of the women are very different and the challenges vary a huge amount. What I’ve found to be a common factor is the desire and the passion behind these goals. They really want to do what they’re doing which is so important for anything you do in life. If you're passionate about it, you’ll give 120% every single time. You won’t make excuses, you won’t think about problems, you’ll only think about solutions and how you can make it happen. Everyone is different, everyone is

What challenge have you taken on that you feel has Impacted you the most?

All of my challenges have impacted on me. As every time I’ve done something which has been outside my comfort zone, I’ve grown as a person. I’ve learned more about me and what I can achieve. Each challenge has been a stepping stone, and has led me to doing new and exciting things and having more adventures. Health and fitness in general has been the biggest impact. Being healthy and fit is so important, the healthier you are the more energy you have to live life. The more ene

What’s next after Marathon des Sables?

To be honest - I have no idea! I have lots of things on my bucket list; from small challenges in the UK such as the three peaks challenge in 24hr, or walking Hadrian’s Wall. To heading off to climb Mount Elbrus the highest mountain in Europe and one of the seven summits. I’d also love to visit the Lost City in Colombia. There’s so many amazing challenges out there just waiting to do be done, the hardest part is deciding! #AskSarah

Before becoming a Digital Nomad, what were you doing?

After graduating from University, I decided to follow all my friends and headed down to London to get a graduate job. I ended up spending eight years working in banking. For a number of years, I really did enjoy it; I was making good money, I was being promoted on a regular basic and I felt I was growing and learning. After a while, all I found myself doing was working! I was constantly on my blackberry and I was stressed, tired and run down. It was not fun anymore and I was

You have the Marathon des Sables in April. Tell me about it and how you are training for the toughe

I do! The Marathon des Sables is held in the Sahara desert in Morocco and over six days you end up running six marathons! As well as coping with the heat, your water is rationed and you have to carry all of your own supplies on your back. They just provide the limited water and shelter! It’s a massive physical and mental challenge one which will push me and test my limits of endurance. I started working with a personal trainer in August last year to build and increase my musc

Have you always loved to travel?

Ever since I can remember I loved going away for family holidays, packing the car, leaving the house and heading down to Rhosneigr in Wales for the whole summer. I think deep down I always knew I wanted to see more of the world. I knew I wanted to go travelling and experience more of life. The first opportunity I had was after finishing school. I wanted a break from studying and doing what other people wanted me to do. I wanted a selfish year, a year of me just doing what I w

Can you share a little bit about your running journey and what you learned on the way?

My running journey started with a horrendous first jog down the street, were I thought my heart was going to explode out of my chest, my face was bright red, I was dripping in sweat and I said to myself I’m never doing that again! I did persevere and soon I’d completed my first 5K, before taking it up to the next level and going for 10K, eventually doing the Liverpool half marathon in 2008. I’ve found running teaches you so many different skills; resilience, determination, co

What would your message be to any women inspired by what you've achieved so far and your passion

My message to women and girls is, GO FOR IT. Decide what YOU want in life. Not what your parents want for you. Don’t just do what your teacher says you’ll be good at. Don’t just copy your best friend. Really decide for you. What are you passionate about? Find out and and go and follow that passion, where ever it may lead. It doesn’t matter it its in a male dominated industry or not - you can be the first. You can go out there and break down those barriers. Kick them down, ta

How far do you feel we have to go to reach gender equality in the UK?

In the UK we’re making progress, and things regarding gender equality are moving forward, and moving in the right direction. It’s just moving so slowly, so very, very slowly. It still shocks me when I find out women are being paid less than men for doing the same job. When women are not being promoted into senior positions, when women don’t get the same recognition, when women’s accomplishments aren’t supported in the same way. Something has to change, and as a society we nee

Tell us more about the podcasts and who are some of the people you have featured?

The Tough Girl Podcast is all about motivating and inspiring women and girls. I interview women who've overcome physical or mental challenges that have pushed them to their limits. They share their journey and what they’ve learnt. They talk about their failures and their successes, they give advice, tips and encouragement. I’m incredibly lucky to interview a real mixture of women, from elite athletes who are training for the next Olympics, to Arctic explorers, cross channel s

Where did the idea for Tough Girl Challenges come from and what will we find on the site?

I was backpacking solo around South America in 2013 and it gave me the time to really reflect back and think about what I enjoyed doing. What my strengths were and what I was passionate about. I came to realise I wasn’t materialistic, I didn’t want to work behind a desk anymore and I wanted freedom and independence to do my own thing. I already knew my passions were; travel, adventure, and challenging myself. As well as motivating and inspiring other people, especially women
