    Update on Challenge Preparation.

A few days ago I really didn’t feel as though I was making any progress at all in anything - not in my dissertation, not in podcasting and not in the planning for the PCH and Baja Divide. To be honest, I was getting very overwhelmed by everything that I had going on, so much so, I just stopped. I didn’t know where to start, or what to start on. I just kept going round and round in circles. Which obviously does nothing at all, apart from making me more annoyed at myself for no

Money & To Do List -->> 10 Weeks to Go...

After being away for 3 weeks, I knew it was going to be challenging coming back. But I am where I am and I knew this was going to happen. Now it’s all about getting organised and getting on top of everything, so I feel more in control. I basically need about a day or two to get things sorted. I can then start looking ahead once I’ve caught up. Money Update At the moment, I don't have any more expenses coming up over the next few months (Just PT (£300) and getting some massage

Current Concerns about my next Challenge…..

When you take on a new challenge, you are always going to be stepping outside of your comfort zone and this is important as this is how you are going to grow and develop. This is where you need to develop new skills and attributes in order to become the person who can do this challenge. This is the hard bit, this is what you can over think, this is what can stop you before you’ve even begun. I do have thoughts running around my head, as at the moment, I don’t know what to do…

PCH & Baja Divide - Challenge Update

Still lots to do - but here is a brief update! Accommodation has been booked for Canada 4th - 10th September (It’s going to cost CAD385/GBP£219- I’m going to put this amount in a savings account so I know this has been paid for) Cost of travel from the airport to accommodation is either CAD $8.75 by train and takes about 40 minutes. Or a taxi will cost about $35 plus tip, approx 30 minutes. Graduation - my Masters graduation is taking place on the 12th of December. I’m going

What life is going to be like over the next 3 months

I really want to share more about the planning and preparation and what goes on behind the scenes. I think so often, people only get to see the glamorous side of adventures and not the reality of what it is like to get everything ready to undertake a challenge like this. I’m going to share as much as I can about what I need to do to get everything ready. I’ll be documenting the journey and showing you how I mange it, how I figure stuff out and what I do, to get stuff done. At

    Total Costs - Appalachian Trail

I have done my very best to ensure all the below is accurate and hopefully it all adds up! Some costs were difficult to keep track of especially when I was using cash as I did not keep a record of what I spend money on - which looking back on now, would have been great to see. There was no luxuries (although I do remember getting a manicure for $6 while in town!) all the money was basically spend on food, accommodation and equipment. I'm racking my brains to think what else I

    June Costs - Appalachian Trail

So I probably should have done this ages ago - but to be honest, I was scared about finding out how much it did cost to do the trail. In my head I was hoping it was going to be around $500 a month!!! I don't think this was the case!! I had two cards with me - my Debit Card for cash withdrawals and my Credit Card AMEX (American Express) for other expenses. Stupidly these card both have transactions fee and cash fees when I used them, which is not ideal. So I would not recommen

How I Afford to Blog & Podcast....

One of the biggest questions I get asked, is how do I afford to do what I do? To be honest, I’m very lucky; I live at home with my parents, I don’t pay rent, fuel or contribute towards food or bills. This has to be the biggest reason why I’m able to blog and podcast for Tough Girl Challenges. When I started in December 2014 I still had savings and was able to pay for equipment, setting up the website, getting business cards and leaflets printed. I was careful with how I spen
